What would be the cheapest but yet fun vacation I could take my children on that is close to Indiana?

This could be in really any of the surrounding states even as far as Tennessee. My children’s ages are 5 and 7. I am looking at maybe 5 days. Please give a detailed account of hotels that are kid friendly and preferably a place that has rides for kids as well.

Have you considered a camping trip?

I grew up in Indiana and there was one place my family always took us when I was growing up. I just looked at their Web site a few weeks ago so I know it’s still there. Try going to Indiana Beach! They have a great little amusement park with rides along the water’s edge – restaurants and some lake activities. There are campgrounds and cabins to rent as well.
Or, if you would prefer something more in the city, I would just suggest Chicago. You can take them to a Cubs or White Sox game (kids love those!), take them to the Shedd Aquarium, go to the Museum of Natural History which has hands-on exhibits for younger children, and I’m sure there is a children’s museum there as well. Go for a walk down Michigan Avenue and let them experience the big city.
Good luck and enjoy!
I live in Ohio and you can come here. We have cedar Point in Cleveland which it has the fasted roller coasters in America. We also have Kings Island in Cincinnati which is very kid friendly and has Nick toon town. Kings island has a water park as well as all kinds of roller coasters. I think this would be the best bet for your kids ages. We have an indoor water park here Columbus, and An indoor water park/amusement park called big bear island near Cleveland. They all have hotels in the parks or across the street. Please let me know if I can be of further help.:) From Indianapolis we are 2.5 hours
try cedar point, ohio. It’s a huge amusement park.
Check this out. This is exactly what you are looking for. Fun and hotel all in one!
