I want to go to Florida with my husband, mother and 3 daughters (two teenagers and a 5 year old) but I want something beside the Disney parks. Any suggestions?

well theres universal studios, if your family is into the action themed ride. Sea world is also a could tourist attraction. And you cant forget the beaches.

    Northwest Florida is great:

Pensacola is 90 minutes drive from southern Alabama

and 4 hours drive from New Orleans

Hope you have a great time, wherever you go!

    Pirate’s cove adventure golf,
    Ripley’s Believe it or not,
    Tibet-Butler Reserve (nature),

There are other theme parks besides Disney: Universal, Islands of Adventure, Bush Gardens, Sea World

There are water parks, some Disney, some not: Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Wet n Wild, Aquatica

Swimming with the Dolphins: Discover Cove, Dolphin World, Dolphins Plus, Marine World

Nature oriented: Everglades National Park, airboat rides, hiking, biking, canoeing, Ocala National Forest, Myakka State Park

History Oriented: Koreshan Unity Settlement Historical Site, Gamble Mansion, Dade Battlefield, Old sugar plantation ruins, various other historical areas.

Animal sanctuaries: Big Cat Rescue (Tampa), SOS bird sanctuary (Sarasota), Mill Creek Farm for horses (Alachua), McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary (West Palm Beach) – keep in mind that most sanctuaries offer tours at very specific times or by reservation only. You’ll want to plan ahead if you wish to do any of these.

    Hi Didi:

There are a ton of options outside the theme parks – air boat rides, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, beaches, shopping, …

    Here are a few ideas:

I highly recommend visiting the Kennedy Space Center during a Space Shuttle Launch. The facility is entertaining, yet educational, and the launch itself is a spectacular event to watch!

Old Town, Kissimmee is fantastic! Its got old style shops, classic car and bike shows, good old carnival rides and some fantastic places to eat. Teenagers will love the haunted house and go-karts, your mum will love the olde style cobble streets and rock and roll music shows, your kid will love the kids rides and theres a place that you can design and make your own candles which is fun too.
Its only about 20 minutes from the Disney Resorts too.
I would definatly recommend dinner shows too – personally, I love Dixie Stampede, Medievil Knights and Pirates. So much fun for all ages (Pirates have a disco after too, which your teenagers will probably like)
